Cancer and cardiac recovery programmes
The Cancer Recovery Programmes is a service dedicated to helping
you manage the effects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and
associated side-effects e.g. fatigue, nausea, weight changes,
muscle and bone changes or psychological problems.
The hospital’s innovative Cancer Recovery Programme, a finalist
in a major healthcare award in 2007, was developed to deliver
supportive care to patients leaving hospital to help them return to
normal life as soon as possible.
Similarly the Cardiac Recovery Programme is dedicated to helping
you manage the effects of cardiac disease and its
management.
The Recovery Programmes are committed to improving your quality
of life during and following treatment through specialist recovery
support and rehabilitation. Your programme could involve
a single appointment or ongoing sessions if required. In each
instance, an individual ‘Recovery Programme’ is developed
specifically for your individual needs and goals.
The Recovery Programme aims are to:
- help you reduce or manage treatment related side effects
- aid in your long-term physical and psychological
recovery
- provide specialist individualised recovery advice and
support
- help you return to activities previously participated in
for example work, leisure, personal care.
