Bupa Cromwell Hospital has always prided itself on being at the forefront of installing state of the art equipment therefore providing our patients with the many advantages of the latest technology.

 

Bupa Cromwell Hospital was the first UK independent hospital to:

  • Open a Private Radiotherapy Department (1982)
  • Replace our radiotherapy treatment machines with state-of-the-art linear accelerators featuring multileaf collimators and portal imaging (1994/5)
  • Install a Gamma Knife for the treatment of benign and secondary brain tumours (1998)
  • Perform a live related liver transplant (1998)
  • Open a fully integrated comprehensive Paediatric Centre (2000)
  • Receive BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Certification in radiotherapy and medical physics for the Quality Management System (2003)
  • Introduce the Cancer Recovery Programme (2004)
  • Ofer laparoscopic renal Cryotherapy – a freezing technique for treating kidney cancer less invasively (2004)
  • Offer one-stage prostate Brachytherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer (2005)
  • Install our first Tomotherapy Hi-ART System®, the world’s most advanced radiotherapy treatment system (2005)
  • Install a PET-CT scanner (2006)
  • Install a second Tomotherapy Hi-ART System® (2006)
  • Install the Gamma Knife Perfexion for the treatment of brain, head and neck lesions (2007)
  • Offer sentinel node imaging and surgery for breast cancer patients all under one roof (2007)
